On Drying Technologies for Printing Machines and Static Electricity

Drying procedure includes the whole process after the oil ink is transferred. And the ink drying process is a key point for post printing procedures, which is also a fundamental element for the packaging products being made. All the colorful printed gift boxes and paper bags rely on the drying effect of the ink oil.

The drying methods are basically can be defined into physical drying, medical drying and combined drying methods subject the combinations of the oil inks. For different oil inks and varnishing oils, different drying systems are required in order to achieve the best drying effect. The oil inks are supposed to meet two conflicted demands at the same time—to stay wet on the roller while printing and to dry quickly on the printed object. 

And there are several factors that influence the drying performance of the oil inks. They are the content of the oil inks, the performance of printed objects, the printing conditions, the climate conditions, the formation of the drying system and so on. And among them, the temperature is the most important factor. The higher the temperature goes, the faster the oil unite and the better the oil penetrates.

While if the paper materials are too dry, static electricity is likely to happen. And it is more frequently for the static electricity to happen in winter when the climate is very dry. Except for dry climate, there are other reasons for static electricity as well. For example, improper paper making crafts which delivers extreme temperature or pressure to the paper materials; improper storage of the paper materials disturbing the inner and outer temperature of the paper materials before getting printed; friction during printing can cause static electricity as well.

To solve the problem, it is better to eliminate the risk from the beginning by keeping the paper materials to the warehouse long enough to control its storage temperature and moisture. And for urgent production, the static electricity could by resolved by airing too.
