Factors that Influence Carton Box Printing Quality

As carton boxes are so popularly needed and used in this time, many carton box manufacturers are now paying much attention to its quality including the material quality, printing quality and finishing quality. 


There are many factors that can influence the printing quality of corrugated carton boxes. And most of them are caused by improper printing pressure. Before printing, the plate making is a precedent that can influence printing quality, which is a vital process between the original design and the printed products. And frequently mentioned issues for the plate making process would be the block of blank part of the printing, the missing of small letters or lines, the unevenness of plate washing and so on. The strict control of exposure time could help avoid the block of the blank part; strict control of plate washing time could help adjust the brush pressure to help keep small letters and lines; the simultaneous operation of the plating lights could contribute to the evenness of plate washing.


In practice, the adjustment and balance of the printing pressure should attract additional patience except for using elastic cushion which can buffer force. The pressure should be evenly spread.


The printing pressure of offset printing is normally 1~3kg/c㎡, while that of corrugated box is 1~2kg/c㎡. When color deviation happens, more pressure is preferred to be implied to the carton boxes by operators, which is possible to lead uneven printing. 


The stable ink application amount is quite important to keep good printing quality. And the viscosity of water based ink, the type of rollers, the ink delivering method and its printing speed would be key to its delivering state. Therefore to make sure these factors are running well would do good to the printing quality. The anilox rollers need frequent cleaning and maintenance. And the stable speed of the printing could ensure a stable ink delivering state, which would also help to achieve coordinated printing color. Besides, large scale background printing requires lower running speed of the printing equipment and higher viscosity of the water based ink. While, spot printing requires higher running speed and lower viscosity of ink.
