TIPS TO AVOID LAMINATION QUALITY PROBLEMS

Lamination is a post printing procedure and plays an important role in beautifying and protecting the products inside the packages. It could be matte lamination and glossy lamination for customers’ choice for their paper packaging products. And it is so widely required on cosmetic box, chocolate box, flower box and various kinds of paper bags. The lamination quality can be influenced by different factors. Today we will talk about these factors and countermeasures to avoid these problems.


Firstly, the blister on the surface of the paper boxes or paper bags could influence the quality of lamination. There could be different reasons for the blister. When lamination is done before the printing gets dry, blister could happen because of the evaporation of moisture inside paper materials. And any dust on the paper material or on the PE film could also cause blister. Excessive amount of anti-stick agent or fast drying agent, or inappropriate application of the glue could be one of the reasons as well. And the countermeasures should be keeping appropriate indoor temperature to make sure that the paper materials are dry, monitoring the cleaning of the surface of the paper material and PE film, doing suitable application of the anti-stick agent and glues to avoid blister.lash box.mp4


Secondly, wrinkles on the laminated boxes or bags could result in unqualified packaging too. It happens because of high moisture on the paper surface, uneven lamination due to uneven roller pressure, and inclined paper feeding during delivering process. Therefore, strict moisture and temperature control is necessary to avoid wrinkles on the boxes. And if wrinkle happens, make sure of flat paper materials before lamination goes on. Besides, the pressure between rubber roller and heating roller should be precisely adjusted. The management of paper feeding should be done to monitor any inclination.


Thirdly, the wrinkled PE film could also lead to lamination quality problem. The overheating temperature of the heating roller could cause deformation of the film which would get wrinkled under the pressure of heating roller. The over-tensed pressure on the film could get it wrinkled as well. The high speed of lamination could result in wrinkles when the sticking agent does not get dry completely. To solve this problem, heating temperature should be controlled, tensing pressure should be adjusted, and lamination speed should be monitored.
